From the moment I was introduced to Ecological Psychology at VIRIDIS via a short, intensive online course, I felt turned on and tuned in. I was compelled to enrol in the Doctorate program to learn more – I couldn’t get enough. At the end of every class, I felt I had equipped myself with the necessary skills and knowledge to manage the challenges I was going through in my business and within myself.  My confidence was developing alongside my intellectual capacity.

Exceptional scholars presented the material, demonstrating their depth of knowledge and experience. The teaching method is unique and inspiring.  For the first time on my academic path, I felt I was learning about matters that mattered – that were relevant to the context of the times we are living in. As a business leader and coach, I am already integrating ecological psychology into my work, and my clients’ feedback shows that it has a powerful and meaningful impact.

Pursuing a Doctorate in Ecopsychology has been a transformative experience, personally, intellectually, and professionally. Whether exploring narrative inquiry, ecosystemic thinking and feeling, or collective healing, I was able to design and engage with work that felt both rigorous and deeply aligned with my values. Perhaps most importantly, it gave me a renewed sense of purpose. I now feel equipped to contribute meaningfully to ecological psychology and practices that honor complexity, relationality, and cultural nuance. Whether I apply these insights in therapeutic work, writing, or program development, the foundation I gained here will remain central to how I engage with the world. I am deeply grateful for the guidance, intellectual freedom, and encouragement I received throughout this journey.

My education in ecopsychology has been a transformative journey, one that fundamentally reshaped how I live and relate to the world around me. What remains most powerful about narrative work, examining and reshaping the stories we live by, is its potential to create lasting, meaningful change.

The knowledge and experience I gained through Viridis have given me the confidence to face complex, systemic challenges with clarity and purpose. Through my studies at Viridis, I’ve also discovered new passions, especially in helping others

reframe narratives rooted in fear of the unknown. I’m currently focused on supporting more compassionate perspectives toward migration, whether of people, insects, or plants, in a rapidly shifting world.

Viridis Graduate Institute transformed me in the most necessary way. Ecological psychology did not just teach me about ecosystems—they revealed how I am an ecosystem. Energy exchange, diversity, decay and renewal, change and relationship became my daily practice, showing me how the same forces that turn leaves to soil also transform fear into wisdom.

The program challenged everything I thought I knew about being human. My climate denial was not something to fix but to compost. My terror of death became curiosity about transformation. The work awakened my awareness and imagination to how we are porous, processual, plural—allowing me to stop trying to transcend my earthiness and start celebrating it.

Now I teach differently, parent differently, grieve differently. Pye’s ecological psychology showed me that multispecies flourishing begins with remembering we were never separate from Earth’s living systems in the first place. Viridis revealed that building resilience means embracing our fundamental nature as collaborative assemblages rather than isolated individuals. This work transformed my life by showing me it was never just “my” life to begin with—I’m part of Earth’s ancient story of becoming. -Courtney, Doctor of Arts Program 2025

My educational experience at Viridis was truly life changing. It felt deeply necessary for the world we are living in right now, responsive, grounded, and forward-thinking in a way traditional education often isn’t. The learning was engaging and accessible, inviting curiosity rather than compliance, and it connected local realities with global perspectives. Viridis expanded my understanding of the world while also reshaping my place within it. Most importantly, it shifted my narrative, from feeling overwhelmed by the state of the world to feeling capable, connected, and equipped to create meaningful change. – Sarah DA Program 2025

My ability to perceive the natural world that I walk through daily is a gift I once took for granted. Now, nature in its many forms is my partner in the continuing development of my psychology. Diving into ecopsychology has connected me to a wealth of generational narratives and behaviors that have been unconscious and destructive. There is no better time in history than now to be a part of changing the course of civilization through dedication to the preservation of our earth and all species. Humankind needs more leaders to step forward who can use a transdisciplinary toolbox of Ecopsychological solutions. Few graduate programs can offer an online program as comprehensive and well-rounded as what I have received from Viridis Graduate Institute.
